Trauma

What is Trauma?

Integrated Health and Recovery Center recognizes that trauma is a subjective and individualized occurrence. There is no universal definition of trauma, and each person’s experience of it, as well as the symptoms and disorders it leads to, are unique. For some individuals, trauma may manifest in the form of addiction, while others may experience mental health issues such as depression or adopt other forms of maladaptive coping. The staff at Integrated Health and Recovery Center acknowledges that effective and enduring trauma treatment necessitates a personalized approach for each individual.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SIMPTOMS OF TRAUMA RELATED DISORDERS THAT I SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR?

You may not be certain if you are suffering from unresolved trauma disorders. It is common for the memory of the traumatic event to be buried, which can lead to a misdiagnosis of other disorders like ADD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. Many individuals who come to Integrated Health and Recovery Center for treatment have experienced trauma symptoms without realizing that they are connected to a traumatic experience. This could be because of a lack of clear memory of the event, not understanding the impact of the trauma, or not recognizing the event as traumatic. Our focus is to assist individuals in understanding how their trauma led to harmful coping mechanisms, so they can achieve resolution from their unresolved trauma.
